Call for Workshops

Workshop track

SaTML 2027 will feature a workshop track that provides a venue for focused discussions on emerging topics in trustworthy and secure machine learning. We invite proposals for workshops that bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders to explore challenges, opportunities, and future directions in the field.

Workshops should address timely and relevant themes that advance the scientific understanding or practical deployment of trustworthy and secure machine learning. We particularly encourage proposals that highlight positive societal impact, including applications of AI that support underserved or disadvantaged communities.

Workshops may take a variety of formats, including invited talks, panel discussions, paper presentations, interactive sessions, tutorials, or community-building activities. We welcome proposals that foster interdisciplinary exchange, encourage broad participation, and help shape future research agendas.

Important dates

The workshop track includes the following dates:

  • Workshop proposal deadline: Fri, Aug 28, 2026
  • Acceptance notification: Fri, Sep 18, 2026
  • Workshop track: Early May, 2027 (Exact Dates TBC)

If a workshop includes its own call for papers, organizers should plan their submission and review timeline with the following dates in mind. We recommend having the CFP and website live shortly after notification, with paper submissions due no later than Dec 18, 2026, acceptance notifications sent no later than Jan 31, 2027, and camera-ready papers intended for inclusion in the conference proceedings submitted no later than Mar 31, 2027.

Proposal submission

Submissions and all related communication with organizers will be handled through a dedicated HotCRP instance. Please submit your proposal by 11:59 PM AoE (UTC-12) on the day of the deadline.

  • Submission site: proposals.satml.org

  • Submission format: We ask that proposals be prepared as a PDF using the workshop template file, with all of its sections filled in so we can get a complete picture of your proposal. The template covers the workshop's scope and format, planned activities, expected submissions and attendance, the organizing team and their experience, past history of the workshop (if any), and plans for reviewing and publication. We encourage keeping submissions concise, with a maximum length of three pages, to allow for a swift and efficient review process.

  • Reviewing and selection process: Proposals will be considered based on the quality and completeness of the submission, the fit and novelty of the topic for the SaTML community, and the feasibility of the plan, including the organizers' relevant experience. As this is the first year of the workshop track, we especially welcome proposals from first-time organizers and warmly encourage reaching out with any questions before submitting.

Organization and logistics

Workshop organizers will be responsible for defining the workshop format, selecting speakers or contributions, and coordinating the workshop program. Accepted workshops will be held on a dedicated workshop day. We plan workshops to be half-day, but there is the option to discuss longer formats.

Attendees will be able to register for a workshop as part of their main conference registration, or on its own if they only wish to attend the workshop. On our end, we'll take care of the room and catering for each workshop's day; anything beyond that is for the organizers to arrange.

Organizers may decide whether to have published proceedings, which can be published alongside the main conference proceedings.
